students for economic justice
Students for Economic Justice is concerned with workers' rights, economic foreign policy, the implications of the university's and individuals' financial decisions, and other economic issues. As a member of United Students Against Sweatshops since 1999, SEJ has led campaigns to ensure that Northwestern apparel is not produced in sweatshops. SEJ works with labor groups outside of campus, such as the Coalition of Immokalee Workers.
SEJ also holds events to educate campus about economic justice issues and in 2005 created the Conscious Consumer Guide, a guide to environmentally friendly, locally owned, union-organized, or vegetarian/vegan friendly businesses or businesses that offer fair trade products.
